(More customer reviews)This Kenwood shares some charicteristics with other models by this manufacturer. It has a smoother, deeper Bass tone and looks that fit into any dash to add that 'factory appearance' (luxury car install).
USB memory stick limitations include short file length of 250 songs before the need to add an additional folder. I have not reached the limit on the number of folders that can be put on the stick. With only one USB input, the iPod Classic Kenwood deck controls necessitate the physical unplug of the stick and the attachment of the iPod when you wish to change media.
A simple on/off would have been a nice addition - the user has to turn off the ignition to power the unit down.The brightness and the contrast of the touch screen is pretty good during the daylight hours, but you'll want a dark window tint to assist.The brightness adjustment for the screen is very lame and can't be dimmed enough for nightime driving (opinion). I have found that I can put the SRC to one of the unused sources, to keep the screen from lighting up the car interior but that only works if you have an audio source that allows the video input to be left disconnected.
DVD access is VERY clumsy unless you spring for the $$$ of the remote control that does not come with this unit. If you are a techie that is into iPod compression for video, this unit will not remember where the video was at when the ignition is turned off (while in the iPod video mode).

Reverse Tilt Mechanism
Depending on the vehicle, in-car monitors are installed in a variety of heights and angles, and this sometimes results in reduced visibility due to reflected glare from sunlight. Kenwood's solution is the exclusive Reverse Tilt mechanism: In addition to the traditional tilt mechanism that allows the bottom of the monitor to be tilted forward over five positions, Reverse Tilt also allows the top of the monitor to tilt forward to eliminate reflected glare.

The DDX714 is a media powerhouse, letting you play your favorite CDs and DVDs, along with several digital audio and video formats. The unit accepts DVD, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, VCD, and CD-DA discs. It plays back AAC-LC, MP3, and WMA audio files; MPEG1 and MPEG2 video files; and can display JPG images. Throw your files on a disc or a USB device and enjoy them in your vehicle wherever you are.

Input and Output
