(More customer reviews)I bought 2 PC's. The first one was DOA - Dead on Arrival. The hard drive kept whirring and then restarting. It never even sent any image to the monitor. Thankfully, Amazon made it easy to return the PC at no cost to me. The second PC turned on fine but had problems reading an original Microsoft CD to install Office. Finally it installed. One of the primary reasons I bought these PC's is that Amazon specifies RAM = 4GB but "upgradable to 8GB RAM". I also visited the Gateway site before placing my order to verify that maximum RAM = 8GB.Please see: [...] - Both sites specify RAM = 4GB but "upgradable to 8GB RAM". I went to [...] to order 2 4GB RAM modules to replace the 4GB with 8GB but was told that the maximum RAM for this model is only 4GB. I went back to the Gateway site and performed an extensive web search but could NOT find any telephone number for customer service. I also did a Web search and could not find a legitimate number either for customer service. I started an online chat with a Gateway Technical Support Rep. He responded by sending me a web link that shows this model with maximum memory of 4GB. I responded by sending him the Gateway Link I had relied upon to make my Amazon Purchase, the same link I was looking at right now, that specifies maximumRAM of 8GB.He then unhelpfully stated a Gateway Policy to me that the Gateway Warranty may be voided if I install memory. Why was this necessary?Finally after he had no answer, he referred me to what was reported to be a Gateway Sales Support Phone Number. The chat ended and I placed the call to "Gateway Sales Support. "Would they be able to help me?Of course not! They are an outside vendor that sells Gateway "REPLACEMENT PARTS." I already knew then what they would tell me but I had to follow this through to its inevitable conclusion. Predictably, theSales Rep told me that the maximum memory for this module is 4GB RAM. Thankfully, Amazon Customer Service is GOOD and they will also allow me to return this unit too. I will NEVER buy any Gateway Product:Poor Product Quality (DOA PC, Apparently flimsy CD ROM Drive) , False and Misleading Advertising, Incompetent and Unhelpful Customer Service, No easily found Customer Service Phone Number.
